Product Description for GLC SX MM

SX SFP GBIC for Cisco (Generic, Fully Cisco Compatible.) The GLC SX MM, 1000BASE-SX SFP operates on ordinary multimode fiber optic link spans of up to 550 meters in length.

Cisco’s industry-standard GLC SX MM SFP is a hot-swappable input/output device that plugs into a Gigabit Ethernet port/slot, linking the port with the fiber-optic network. GLC SX MM SFPs can be used and interchanged on a wide variety of Cisco products and can be intermixed in combinations of IEEE 802.3z- compliant 1000BaseSX, 1000BaseLX/LH, or 1000BaseZX interfaces on a port-by-port basis.

The Cisco GLC SX MM operates on ordinary multi-mode fiber optic link spans of up to 550 m in length.

The industry-standard Cisco GLC SX MM Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) Gigabit Interface Converter is a hot-swappable input/output device that plugs into a Gigabit Ethernet port or slot, linking the port with the network (Figures 1 and 2). SFPs can be used and interchanged on a wide variety of Cisco products and can be intermixed in combinations of 1000BASE-T, 1000BASE-SX, 1000BASE-LX/LH, 1000BASE-EX, 1000BASE-ZX, or 1000BASE-BX10-D/U on a port-by-port basis.

Perkins Miller knows a thing or two (or ten) about the Olympic Games. As Senior VP of Digital Media Olympics for NBC Universal, Miller oversaw the push to deliver the Games on multiple digital platforms, back in 2008. This year, he says in this video interview, its all about capturing the culture of the Games – from fans, journalists, and athletes (except when theyre actually competing, obviously) – while vastly improving the behind-the-scenes editing workflows. That means putting Cisco Flip cameras in the hands of participants, before the games, as well as NBC talent and producers to gather the rest of the story. It was first tested with Flip in Beijing, but the effort in Vancouver is now deeply tied to the rise in social networking. On the workflow front, Miller discusses NBCs decision to partner with Cisco in developing and building an IP workflow (as opposed to prior baseband workflows), to make editing and metadata management more efficient – and to make video capable of reaching beyond the TV to mobile devices, laptops, and PCs.
